Why the need for Safety Talks?
In 2009 there were over 250,000 workplace injuries reported to the WSIB. The statistics are staggering. http://www.wsib.on.ca/wsib/wsibsite.nsf/public/Statistics
The WSIB estimates a single injury on the job costs a business on average $72,000 per injury, when factoring in lost time, business disruption, and cost to manage customer expectations.
The combination of education, training, legislation/regulation and aggressive enforcement is expected to achieve the government's goal of reducing workplace injuries by 20 per cent. http://www.prevent-it.ca/
